Mokulua means “two islands” or “twin islands” in Hawaiian. This part of Kailua Beach is host to sea turtles, monk seals and visiting kayakers.

The Kailua Beach Walk is four miles long from the Kailua Beach Park entrance going north and one mile or more going south into Lanikai below.
Flat Island is about a quarter of a mile off shore. During low tide you can almost walk to it. A marine preserve, Flat Island is home to various birds and ocean life. It has a soft white sand beach on the side facing the beach and a rocky coral face to the sea.
